Description

This brand-new curated project by Marty Ashby and MCG Jazz features Allan Harris, Ernie Andrews and Milton Suggs, a brand-new artist that was chosen by nationwide search.

Allan Harris is a world-class singer, guitarist and songwriter. Known for his interpretations of jazz standards, Allan’s smooth vocals and guitar-styling easily cross genres, from jazz to rock to blues. As a teenager, Harris moved to Pittsburgh where he learned from masters like Harold Betters and Roger Humphries.

Ernie Andrews has a raw vitality that communicates instantly, he exudes a "reach 'em by preachin'" energy, influenced by his gospel roots. He was discovered by songwriter Joe Greene in 1947, when he won an amateur show at the Lincoln Theatre in Los Angeles. Greene was so impressed that he immediately took Andrews into the studio. With his special strut and unique mannerisms, he consistently moves audiences to standing ovations.

“A commanding singer...steeped in tradition... with modern sensibilities" is just one of the things Downbeat magazine had to say about Milton Suggs . His voice is a reflection of the many great male voices in jazz, soul, and R&B from the past century and beyond. Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, Joe Williams, Oscar Brown, Jr., Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye, are just a few of the influences that shape his sound. It is the music, the history, and the culture of the generations that preceded him that makes up the foundation upon which his own music is built.
