This new restoration of this splendid costume drama reveals an exceptional, beautifully photographed film, featuring the best actors and screenwriters of the time, including star Pola Negri. Set in 17th century Spain, The Spanish Dancer tells the story of Maritana (Negri), a Spanish gypsy singer, who is in love with the penniless nobleman and bon vivánt Don César de Bazan (Antonio Moreno). The lovers become involved in a court intrigue involving the King (Wallace Beery) and his French wife.
