Afraid of the Dark Speaker Series presents:
IN THE SHORT-RUN, IN THE LONG-RUN
-Author Paul Roberts on the economics and technology of time-horizon-
Northwest author and journalist Paul Roberts will offer a new perspective on the way technology, affluence, and ideology is changing – and, in same cases, undermining – our ability to make critical decisions in everything from personal finance to national security. Roberts is the author of two leading books about the connections between decision making and natural resources: The End of Oil: On the Edge of a Perilous New World and more recently The End of Food.
A long-time observer of energy issues, resource politics, and consumer behavior, Roberts appears regularly on national and international television and radio news shows including BBC, PBS NewsHour, CNN, Bloomberg Television, MSNBC, CBS Evening News and NPR’s On Point and Fresh Air.
Paul Roberts lectures frequently on energy and other resource issues, and has delivered keynote addresses to numerous organizations, including the World Economic Forum (Davos), the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Council on Foreign Relations and the World Affairs Council.
Open to the public, this lecture will be downtown at the Pickford Film Center (1318 Bay St. Bellingham, WA 98225) on Monday, November 12th at 5:30pm. Tickets are $2.50 with valid student ID and $5 for general admission. Available for pre-sale at the Pickford box office.
