This award-winning feature length documentary depicts the lives and treatment of five Ethiopian women who suffer from obstetric fistula, a socially and physically devastating childbirth injury secondary to obstructed labor. The proceeds from this event will help support OHSU Global Women’s Health Initiative, the Footsteps to Healing project.
This is a collaborative project between health care providers at OHSU and other partner hospitals in Portland and a rural hospital in Gimbie, Ethiopia . The project provides pelvic floor reconstructive surgery for women who experience uterovaginal prolapse and incontinence as a result of child birth related trauma to the pelvic floor. The project also supports midwifery training and community outreach research to improve women’s health. For more information, visit our website.
