Incredible Adventures of Jojo (and His Annoying Sister Avila) is an uncanny
children’s comedy from first-time writer-directors Ann-Marie and Brian Schmidt.
When their mother takes her two children, Jojo and Avila, to visit Grandma in
the woods a car accident on the way home forces six year old Jojo to take care
of his baby sister. The two of them battle against the odds as they try to
escape an angry hobo, a ravenous pack of wolves, and the violent fury of Mother
Nature. Can Jojo overcome his differences with Avila and make it home to Grandma?
a pint-sized Jack London novel with a dash of Wes Anderson, the film weaves a
charming narrative of how sibling rivalries melt away in the face of
overwhelming odds. There hasn’t been a kids film like this in a long, long
time. -Brian Hunter
