One hundred years after a horrific event destroyed most of humanity, those who remain now live within the confines of three giant walls. These walls exist to keep out the Titans, a horde of stories-tall humanoid creatures whose only interest seems to be devouring those men, women, and children who fall within their path of destruction. One teenager - Eren Jaeger - yearns to see the world outside of humanity's barrier-enclosed prison, and dreams of escaping its confines to see the ocean that's rumored to exist beyond.
Eren's dream turns into a nightmare, however, when a Titan larger than any seen before slams into one of the outer walls, shattering the barrier that had maintained a century of peace and allowing the Titans to lay waste to those within.
