About the Film:
Filmed in a vérité style on location during the polar vortex of 2014, "Bob and the Trees" stars the real-life Bob Tarasuk as himself, a 50-year-old logger with a soft spot for golf and gansta rap, struggling to make ends meet in a merciless industry. An intimate and immersive observation of middle-class blue-collar America is seen through the dangerous and demanding logging trade, as Bob stuggles with a new economy, a big investment gone rotten, a sickly cow and the encroachment of a winter storm.
Stunningly shot in the Berkshire with pocket cameras and a cast of non-actors playing versions of themselves, this fictional film was largely improvised from a loose script based on real life events. Director Ongaro, met Bob in 2007 and was "instantly attracted to his magnetic personality and fascinating stories." The feature film is an expansion of an early short film by the same name, and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
