Description

Director Park Hong-min Attending

Standing on his balcony, Su-min witnesses a murder on a distant rooftop in broad daylight. Camera in hand, he instinctually snaps a couple photos when he suddenly realizes that the murderers have spotted him and are coming to find him. Following Su-min’s resulting fate is a gritty, mind-bending affair that dives head first into a psychological rabbit hole, shot with long takes through the back streets of a maze-like neighborhood in Seoul. Director Park Hong-min, in his second feature film, takes the audience on a wild ride as the film flashes forwards, backwards, and perhaps into another dimension.

"A distinctive psychological thriller." - Hollywood Reporter

Director's Statement

The movie depicts all the places I lived and am living in.

I planned and produced the movie Alone to take a step back and look at myself. I also wanted to be healed through this work by asking myself varied questions.

To effectively express these personal concerns, I decided to make this film as a mystery fantasy and filmed long moving takes to symbolize the long vines of one’s conscious.

The film consists of 37 scenes. I wanted to be a creative inspiration and both intellectual and emotional stimulation to the audience. And this way, I can communicate with the audience as a director.
