Abel lives two lives—that of an obedient 15-year-old son and that of a street-wise tough guy more interested in gambling than finding a job. When his father is injured in an accident, Abel must take over his father's boda boda, motorcycle taxi, to support the family. But one bad decision leads to another, and Abel wakes along the side of the road with boda boda, and his family’s livelihood, gone. Director Donald Mugisha brings neorealism to Uganda in this poignant riff on the De Sica’s classic Bicycle Thieves.
