Description

This thrilling love story is inspired by a true Cold War episode, about an Estonian fencing champ on the run from the Soviet secret police. Working under a pseudonym as a phys ed teacher in a tiny Estonian village, legendary fencer Endel Nelis starts teaching his pupils the art and sport of fencing. When the kids push for their team to participate in the national competition in Leningrad, Endel must choose between his safety and his true vocation.

Press

"The inspirational-teacher movie gets an effective, sober-minded iteration in 'The Fencer,' a fictional account drawn from the life of the legendary Estonian fencing master Endel Nelis." - Variety
