In Competition: Minnesota Made Narrative Feature
Told through the eyes of a ten-year-old boy, The Sand Box follows a boy's journey when his dad returns from Iraq a changed man. As he struggles to make things as they once were, his dad can’t overcome the memory of a tragic event that ultimately leads to a casualty of war on the home front. Jennifer Kramer dissects the effects of PTSD in veterans by looking at it from a child’s perspective and shines a light on the ignored impact it has on over two million military-connected children in the US.
