Description

The Nantucket Comedy Festival presents the return of the Stand Up & Learn Winter Workshop and Professional Comedy Series, sponsored by Chris Stadler.  Executive Director Kevin Flynn and will be on island to conduct the season’s fourth workshop for Stand Up & Learn, a comedy education program for young people ages 8–18.  Also, nationally touring comedians Maya Manion and Mike McDonald will be here to entertain audiences Saturday evening.
After great success in our workshops, we are excited to start a new round of sessions.   We are pleased to say that we had an amazing time filming our small group in April for our instructional video series!  Luckily, now that filming has wrapped, we can also accept a larger number of students for our May series.  An initiative of the Nantucket Comedy Festival, Stand Up & Learn enables island children to build self-confidence while learning to create and perform original stand-up comedy.
Workshops will take place in the Dreamland Studio Theater, 17 South Water Street, on Thursday and Friday, May 19–20 from 3:30–5 p.m. and on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., followed by a children’s performance at 5 p.m. put on by the workshop participants.  Please sign up soon, as this class will be limited to a maximum of fifteen children.  All children’s workshops are free to participants. Saturday evening at 7:30, a professional stand-up comedy show (for ages 18 and over) in the Dreamland’s main theater will feature funny mom Maya Manion and legendary Boston comedian Mike McDonald.
