Description

Statesboro talents Carol Thompson, Mical Whitaker, and Alan Tyson bring to life this heartwarming Pulitzer Prize-winning play written by Alfred Uhry. Driving Miss Daisy is a tale of friendship between an elderly Jewish widow, Daisy (Thompson), and Hoke (Whitaker), her African-American chauffer. Told against the backdrop of evolving racial relations in Atlanta during the mid-20th century, Daisy and Hoke’s relationship gets off to a rocky start when he is hired by her son Boolie (Tyson) to be her driver after she crashes her car. Gradually, Hoke earns Miss Daisy’s trust as he defies stereotypes, and over their 25 years together, the two grow to become great confidantes, teaching each other about life and friendship along the way.
