woo the naive trust fund flapper Mary Sharon (Kristin Scott Thomas) and seduce
her out of a $50 million inheritance. The cinematographic eye of Michael Ballhaus,
sometime Scorsese and Fassbinder collaborator, works wonders to wrap Prince's
vision in shimmering black-and-white imagery. A
critical flop at the time of its release despite the towering fame of its
director, Cherry Moon has become a cult classic, beloved for its gender- and
class-bending humor, outlandishly glamorous costuming, and of course for its
