Description

Saturday, June 4, 7:30 p.m.  The Nantucket Comedy Festival presents the return of the Stand Up & Learn Workshop and Professional Comedy Series, sponsored by Jill & Steve Karp.  Executive Director Kevin Flynn and nationally headlining comedians will be on island to entertain local audiences and conduct the season’s fifth workshop for Stand Up & Learn, a comedy education program for people aged 8–18.
Saturday evening our professional stand-up comedy show (for ages 18 and over) in the Dreamland’s main theater will feature Boston comedian Sean Sullivan and funny man Jim Colliton.

Jim Colliton
Jim has built his comedy career around being funny and clean.  He is a middle-aged white man living in suburbia with his wife and three children.  He spends his days in carpools, youth sports & helping the children with their homework; all of these activities have helped Jim create a hilarious comedy routine that everyone can relate to.  His relaxed delivery and stage presence helps him connect with audiences of all ages and sizes.  When starting his career Jim was featured on Ed McMahon’s Next Big Star and Comcast’s Comedy Spotlight.  Jim has also been seen on Comedy Central’s Laugh Riots and heard on XM Satellite Radio’s Comedy Channel and Slacker Radio.  Jim’s comedy CD “Stories from the Suburbs,” won the Best Comedy Album of 2009 by the JPF awards held in Nashville, TN.

Sean Sullivan
Sean Sullivan has secured his place in the Boston comedy scene by pursuing new and innovative ways of entertaining audiences. With his quick wit and strong improvisational talents, audiences never exactly know what they will get when he takes the stage.  As host of the only live late-night talk show in Boston, Sean was recently profiled for his work in the Boston Globe and was named one of the top six “Fools” in the city for the Boston Herald’s “April Fool’s Day” spread. Recently, Sean has hooked up with some of the top alternative comics in Boston to form the sketch comedy team, The Untrainables and critically acclaimed comedy duo, The Seans.  A graduate of Umass Amherst, Sean has developed his playwriting skills and saw a number of his one act plays performed before very receptive audiences. Feeling trapped by the vast expanses of farmland found in Western Mass, Sean stole away to New York City in the fall of 2004 to serve as a research intern at Late Night with Conan O’Brien.  A two-time semi-finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival, Sean made  his national television debut in December, 2009 on Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham.  Now, armed with a B.A. from the flagship campus of a fledgling state university system and delusions of grandeur, Sean is poised to continue spreading his brand of loose and refreshing comedy wherever eager audiences wait.
