Marshalling the formidable skills of his own multifaceted career, son Chris Lemmon becomes the legendary screen actor Jack Lemmon in Twist of Lemmon - his poignant, artfully scripted multimedia play with music, based on his acclaimed 2006 memoir. Not an impersonation, Chris “channels’ his beloved father in a manner critics have called uncanny. Returning to us on stage, “Jack” regales us with stories of his life, work and creative process, re-enacting numerous scenes from his greatest films, while recreating many of the legendary stars with whom he acted, including Gregory Peck, George Cukor, Marilyn Monroe and his best friend Walter Matthau. At the same time “Jack” explores his complex relationship with Chris, telling the story of a father and son torn apart by the vicissitudes of life and career, only to find one another again, becoming best of friends. Accomplished pianists both, their shared love of music unites them through thick and thin, as “Jack/Chris” perform over a dozen great standards, along with their own original compositions.

The result is a tour de force - pungent, hilarious and heartfelt - with an irresistibly wry re-creation of the public Jack Lemmon we love, and a revealing exploration of the private Jack Lemmon by the man who knew him best. (2 hours including intermission | Dir. Hugh Wooldbridge)
