In this classic dystopian political thriller, directed by James
McTeigue, based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore, and screenplay by
The Wachowski Brothers, we find a not so disperate alternate future,
not far from today, where a neo-fascist regime has subjugated the United
Kingdom to a harsh and totalitarian dictatorship. (ironically lorded
over by John Hurt.) Clashing Against England's new government, Hugo
Weaving portrays V, an anarchist freedom fighter who attempts to ignite a
revolution through elaborate terrorist acts, helping to expose the
insidious nature behind the powers that be! With the help of Natalie
Portman as the charachter Evey, a young, working-class woman caught up
in V's mission, and Stephen Rea, who plays the detective leading a
desperate quest to stop V from destroying the new English Empire, only
to end up helping uncover the truth behind it!
