Thoughtful and reserved, family man Tomas (Javier Cámara, Living is Easy With Eyes Closed, Yesterday Never Ends, A Gun in Each Hand) takes a break from his life in Canada to travel to Madrid in order to spend a few days with actor and lifelong best friend Julian (Ricardo Darín, The Secret in Their Eyes, Wild Tales), whose messy, complicated life has taken a darker turn in the form of a grim cancer prognosis. With four days and Julian’s beloved dog Truman in tow, the pair travel through their beloved city, taking unexpected detours while making amends and recalling a life of loves and losses, triumphs and regrets all the while facing the last days of an unbreakable bond.
Winner of five Goya Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, writer (along with Tomas Aragay) and director Cesc Gay’s beautiful new film is a wise and tender ode to friendship, emotionally rich and honest without being cloying. Supported by a terrific turn by Dolores Fonzi as Julian’s deeply concerned sister, Truman is like a warm afternoon spent with old friends, having a drink, shooting the breeze and feeling pretty good.

Con cuatro días por delante y la compañía de Truman, el perro de Julián, los amigos recorren su amada ciudad, tomando rumbos inesperados, enmendando errores y recordando una vida de amores y pérdidas, triunfos y arrepentimientos mientras comparten los últimos días de un lazo irrompible. Ganadora del premio a la mejor película, al mejor director, al mejor actor y al mejor actor de reparto, este Nuevo film del escritor, junto con Tomas Aragay, y director Cesc Gay es una tierna y sabia oda a la Amistad, rica en emociones y honesta sin llegar a empalagar. Director's Statement
Truman is an attempt. At overcoming the panic we all feel in life when faced with illness and impending death: our own or that of a loved one. It is an exploration of how we react to the unexpected, to the unknown, to grief.
Truman is also a film about friendship and the relationship between two men facing that adversity, the man who is ill and the man who accompanies him. Two men and a dog, our protagonist’s faithful companion, whose name gives the film its title. I was very fortunate in getting the two actors I wanted from the start for the two lead roles. Ricardo Darin and Javier Camara joined the project immediately and I will always be grateful to them for that and the performances they have given us.
