BetweenTheLines Theatre Inaugural season continues with Constellations.
Feb 3rd,5th, & 9-12th| Preview Feb 1
BetweenTheLines is raising the bar for Missoula theatre.
We are proudly presenting cutting-edge theatre for today’s audiences. After a successful season opener with The Aliens, we have expanded the run of our following shows. With Constellations by Nick Payne in February, and Stupid F*cking Bird by Aaron Posner in May, we will be able to reach more people. In doing so, BetweenTheLines is helping to illuminate the capacity for increased empathy, understanding, and storytelling at the core of the theatrical experience.
The intimacy of our space never ceases to amaze me. We have the privilege of performing in a space capped at 64 audience members. The seats are only feet from the stage. Our technical elements are minimalist. But we continue to prove that these are not limitations, but assets. The closeness we are afforded continually helps us accentuate, highlight, and celebrate the electricity between audiences and performer. I am consistently filled with gratitude for our home at The Roxy.
Thank you to the artists who have stepped forward with their resources, time, and creative energy. Thank you to our sponsors. And thank you to Missoula audiences who are continually proving their openness and desire for exciting, new theatre.

CONSTELLATIONS by Nick Payne takes you on an unexpected journey through the multitude of possibilities in one relationship between a quantum physicist and a beekeeper. A new kind of love story.
What did the NYTimes had to say at the 2015 Broadway opening?
Nerds in Love, Rewriting Destinies
"Constellations,” Nick Payne’s gorgeous two-character drama, may be the most sophisticated date play Broadway has seen. This 70-minute fugue-like production takes that most elemental of dramatic setups — boy meets girl — and then spins it into a seeming infinitude of might-have-been alternatives.
This is achieved through the application of the principles of string theory, relativity and quantum mechanics, although don’t ask me to explain precisely how.
Who knew that higher physics could be so sexy, so accessible — and so emotionally devastating?

Stupid F*cking Bird
May 19-21 | Preview May 17
Stupid F*cking Bird by Aaron Posner This irreverent, sort-of-adaptation of Chekhov’s classic, The Seagull, not only contemporizes the one-hundred year old language, but also redefines the author’s goal for our generation. In The Seagull, Konstantin says, “We need new forms. And if we can’t have them we are better off with no theatre at all.” Using music, meta-theatricality, mad humor, and a bombastic, fearless voice, this play begs us to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel our pursuit of happiness.
