Description

Prepare to be immersed deep into the heart of the Amazon in this spectacular adventure that grants us intimate access to the captivating stories and lush natural wonders of the world's greatest rainforest. We first meet Saï, a capuchin monkey born and raised in captivity, when the plane he is travelling on to his next circus performance crashes in the middle of the forest. Alone and left to fend for himself, the domesticated monkey must learn to adapt to this unfamiliar environment. A frightened Saï tentatively makes his way out of the plane and starts to explore his new surroundings, where he meets new friends — and foes! — and samples the culinary delights that the Amazon has to offer.

To prepare for Amazonia, director Thierry Ragobert (The White Planet) and his team spent two years doing scientific research, working closely with biologists and animal experts to ensure the accuracy and faithfulness of every sequence. Ragobert's breathtaking footage, featuring a cast of forest animals such as jaguars, crocodiles, kinkajous, boas, and forty capuchin monkeys — plus thousands of plant species and millions of insects serving as background extras — renders this beautiful and incredibly dangerous rainforest absolutely spellbinding. Amazonia reminds us of just how disconnected the domesticated world can be from the wild. Trusting your instincts and being willing to adapt are the things that will help you navigate the perils of the jungle. For most of us, such a challenge might sound frightening, but for a primate like Saï, the jungle may already be home.
