What: "Journey Down the Colorado: Changes in Western Rivers" by Jonathan Waterman. The author of award winning books on adventure and the environment will take the audience on his five-month, first-ever paddle from source to sea on the 1,450-mile Colorado River, sponsored by the National Geographic. Through images, a narrative account and video the author will also share his observations on drying rivers caused by population growth and climate change, as well as what we can expect for the future. This lecture, and Waterman’s work--through two books (Running Dry and The Colorado River), public presentations, a traveling photo exhibit, a national geographic map, and the award winning “Chasing Water” film w/ Pete McBride—have largely shaped river policy and the public perception of water in the west. Book signing to follow the event.
