Description

Academy Award Nominee - Best Animated Feature

"Nothing short of a miracle!" -The Hollywood Reporter

"Zucchini will floor you! This is animation as an art form, inspiring and indelible." -Peter Travers, Rolling Stone

"[Zucchini is] delicious and nutritious! Animated films can do more than babysit kids; instead of simply quieting children for an hour or two, they can act to open conversations with them." -NPR

Language Note: Matinee screenings (before 5:30pm) will be the English-language version.* Evening screenings will be the original French version with English subtitles.

Parental Advisory: We heartily recommend this film for teens, and also older/mature children. Themes are serious but handled sensitively and with humor where appropriate. Depending on parenting style, age-appropriateness may be 7+ or it could be 13+. Please use your discretion.

BONUS SHORT! All screenings preceded by "The Genie in a Tin of Raviolis" (7 min.), a short film from the same director.

After his mother's sudden death, Zucchini is befriended by a police officer, Raymond, who accompanies him to his new foster home, filled with other orphans his age. At first he struggles to find his place in this at times strange and hostile environment. But with Raymond's help and his newfound friends, Zucchini eventually learns to trust and love, as he searches for a new family of his own. From its debut in Director's Fortnight at Cannes to winning audience awards at festivals around the world, this accomplished debut feature from director Claude Barras, based on a script from acclaimed writer/director Céline Sciamma ("Girlhood," "Tomboy"), has now been nominated for both an Academy Award and Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature. Brought to life through memorable character designs and expressive stop-motion animation, the story soars with laughter, sorrow, and joy, and stands as a testament to the resilience of the human heart.

* The English-language version has a voice cast starring Will Forte, Nick Offerman, Ellen Page, and Amy Sedaris and had its world premiere at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
