Description

Good and evil fight it out in the 23rd century in Luc Besson’s sci-fi thriller, The Fifth Element. A fiery ball of destruction is headed for Earth and it’s up to cabbie and former special forces agent Bruce Willis to save the world with the assistance of “perfect being” Milla Jovovich. It’s a high-octane thrill ride that Besson conceived of when has sixteen years old and added to over the years. It wasn’t until 1997 that the film was released, bringing the world an epic tale of science fiction extravaganza. The supporting cast is just as stellar, with Gary Oldman playing the evil intergalactic CEO with a funny get-up, Ian Holm as the priest trying to one-up Willis, and Chris Tucker (who some say steals the show) as the flamboyant disc jockey Ruby Rhod. It’s a goofy movie but as Roger Ebert says, it’s one of the greats.
