Description

Director Peter Stephan Jungk Attending

Edith Tudor-Hart was a London based photographer whose principal theme seemed to be compassion for the poor and downtrodden. Studying at Walter Gropius’ famed Bauhaus studio, she achieved a modest renown in England, photographing children, refugees from the Spanish Civil War, and the workers losing their jobs in North East England. But her passions were not limited to photography, for Edith was also a spy for the KGB, most notably recruiting the Cambridge Spy Ring, arguably the greatest infiltration of Britain’s intelligence community in history. Her work helped bring the Soviet Union the atom bomb and other information that heightened the Cold War. Directed by her nephew, Tracking Edith is at once a spy story and a riveting family drama.

Director’s Biography

Peter Stephan Jungk was born in Santa Monica, California, the son of futurologist Robert Jungk. He studied screenwriting at the American Film Institute and wrote the novel The Perfect American, about Walt Disney, that was adapted into an opera of the same name by Philip Glass.
