Voice From the Stone
2017 MSPIFF Official Selection
Q&A with Director Eric D. Howell following the 7:15pm screening on Thursday, May 18!
In 1950s Tuscany, Verena (Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke), a young nurse, is hired by the steward of a grand manor to help his young boy who is suffering severe trauma over the death of his mother. He is utterly silent, unable or unwilling to make a sound. As Verena begins her work, she starts to notice strange goings-on, and fears that the family castle is possessed by a malevolent force that threatens everyone inside its walls. Based on the acclaimed Italian novel La voce della pietra by Silvio Raffo (as yet untranslated). “Voice from the Stone was a script that screamed to be read under a blanket with a flashlight. It plays as a Hitchcock fairytale set in 1950’s Tuscany with mysterious characters and a ghostly antagonist.” - director Eric D. Howell
