A look at the life and work of American journalist I.F. (“Izzy”) Stone, who led a one-man crusade against government deception – and today’s journalistic heroes like Amy Goodman and Glenn Greenwald who carry on the Izzy legacy.

“All governments lie,” cried iconoclastic rebel journalist I.F. Stone who from 1953 to 1971,filled a tiny 4-page newsletter with his fearless, independent reporting and carried it to the mailbox every week. Inspired by Stone, a  team of award-winning journalists such as Jeremy Scahill, Glenn Greenwald, Michael Moore, and Amy Goodman continue to expose government lies and corporate deception. Explore pivotal moments in history when investigative journalists uncovered facts that contradicted official government statements. With government deception rampant, and intrusion of state surveillance into private life never more egregious, independent voices are increasingly crucial. But mainstream media and the giant media conglomerates are increasingly reluctant to investigate or criticize government policies – particularly on defense, security and intelligence issues.
