Description

The NITEHAWK SHORTS FESTIVAL SELECTS is a curated program of short films from the hugely successful 4th edition of the Nitehawk Shorts Festival (fifty-five shorts films over six sold-out screenings). With this touring program, Nitehawk Cinema furthers its support of emerging filmmakers by presenting seven films to represent the strong and diverse voices shown at the festival this past year.

The program includes Saj Pothiawala’s Vegas (Festival Jury Award) short about an awkward young man and his encounter with an eccentric prostitute and Marysia Makowska’s Dahlia (Festival Jury Award Runner-Up) short about two bored young girls who deal with unintended consequences after breaking into a stranger’s Cape Town house. The screening features documentaries about the first gay country album in These C*cksucking Tears by Dan Taberski (Huffington Post Impact Award) and a group of students and their rural communities preparation for the high school prom in the short The Send-Off by Ivete Lucas and Patrick Bresnan. A feminist horror short about a young woman’s fiercest self in Catherine Fordham’s Consomme, a woman’s self-discovery through vaping in the haze of Los Angeles in Doron Max Hagay’s Vape (Cinematography Award), and a couple’s journey to the truth in Grace Rex’s Be Good (Audience Award) round out the screening.
