SURVIVOR'S GUIDE TO PRISON

You are more likely to go to prison in the United States than any other country in the world, so in the unfortunate case it happens to you, this is the Survivor's Guide to Prison. Executive produced and narrated by Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon, this nonstop documentary chronicles the stories of two men who spent decades behind bars for murders they did not commit. With additional narration by activists like Danny Trejo, Patricia Arquette, Jesse Williams, Ice T, RZA, Busta Rhymes, Tom Morello, Macklemore, B-Real, Deepak Chopra, Warren G and more, Survivor's Guide to Prison exposes a failed punishment model. Gripping testimony from inmates, guards, staff, police, analysts, lawyers and reformers lend further credibility as director Matthew Cooke and Iowa-born producer Steve DeVore examine the system cell by cell.

PRODUCER STEVE DEVORE
Emmy-winning producer Steve DeVore has worked with some of the top commercial companies including MJZ, Smuggler, Backyard, HKM, Furlined and ad agencies including Chiat Day, Crispin Porter, Mother, Carmichael Lynch, Olson and BBDO. He has worked with artists including Rufus Wainwright, Rocky Morton, Errol Morris, Michael Patrick Jann, Jesse Dylan, Michael Karbelnikoff and more.

In 2010, DeVore produced the award-winning film that won Russia the 2018 World Cup Hosting honors, and in 2012 DeVore won an Emmy for the "Most Outstanding Live Special" for Fox Sports. DeVore was born and raised in Muscatine, Iowa.

DIRECTOR MATTHEW COOKE
Director Matthew Cooke got his start in non fiction filmmaking as the producer and editor of the Academy Award nominated documentary Deliver Us From Evil and was the producer and editor for the critically acclaimed HBO documentary Teenage Paparazzo. In 2013, Cooke wrote, directed and narrated How To Make Money Selling Drugs, which was distributed by Tribeca Film and earned the International Documentary Associations "Best Writing Award" in 2013.
