Description

World View - Global Cinema at the Roxy
This fall, The Roxy Theater is proud to bring you WORLD VIEW: CULTURES IN MOTION - a series of films which highlight and celebrate dance around the world. Hosted by Global and Cultural Affairs in Arts Missoula, sponsored by Soft Landing Missoula, International Rescue Committee, Rideg Law Office, US Bank, SG Long Financial and Pink Grizzly.

Set in Northern Uganda, a country ravaged by more than two decades of civil war, War/Dance tells the story of Dominic, Rose, and Nancy, three children whose families have been torn apart, their homes destroyed, and who currently reside in a displaced persons camp in Patongo.  When they are invited to compete in an annual music and dance competition, their historic journey to their nation's capital is also an opportunity to regain a part of their childhood and to taste victory for the first time in their lives.

The evening will also include an introduction from the International Rescue Committee & Soft Landing. Joining us after the film will be Oumar from Unity Dance & Drum, who will provide a brief drumming demonstration and will talk about the significance of drumming in African Culture and his personal life.
