Eighth Grade
Eighth Grade | 93mins |
Even Molly Ringwald said Eighth Grade "the best movie about adolescence I've seen in a long time. Maybe ever." If you're familiar with Molly Ringwald, or John Hughes, or have experienced life sometime since the 1980s, you'll know that's a big compliment. The film centers around Kayla, who is barely even the center of her own life. Easily overlooked, she continues to try and stay positive. Her YouTube channel, where she advocates for being your best self, could do its viewers a lot of good if any viewers existed. And yet, she perseveres. Oddly uplifting for a tale of middle school, Kayla will endear herself to you, even if she couldn't do that with any of her peers.
