Coralie Whitt lives alone and ostracized in a forgotten coal mining town, unitl the arrival of the handsome and mysterious Willie Lowe. As the two young people fall in love, Coralie allows herself to yearn for a happier new life. But as they travel north through the mountains to get married, their future together is soon shadowed by a shared past that affects their relationship in tragic ways that she couldn't foresee.
