All Hail Pippi Longstocking!
Astrid Lindgren would go on to create Pippi Longstocking and become the third-most translated children's book author in the world. But before any of that, she was a teenager in rural Sweden. Restless and eager to break free of her conservative upbringing, she accepts an internship at a local newspaper where she attracts the attention of its married editor, Blomberg. A pregnancy soon follows, and Astrid goes to Copenhagen to secretly give birth to a son, Lasse. She is forced to leave in the care of a foster mother, Marie. But when Marie falls ill and can no longer take care of Lasse, Astrid becomes the world-renowned author she's fated to be and uses her imagination and flair for storytelling to reconnect with her son.
