Neil Simon was America’s most prolific and successful playwright, the master who helped redefine humor on Broadway and in film. But there was more. Humor, he told us, is the instrument I first use to reach people. And reach us he did in plays that are funny, heartfelt and thought- provoking. In many ways they mirrored his life. He brought us joy and pain through the characters and stories he created and we love them. This is at the heart of Shirley Romaine's lively tribute. The program includes selected highlights from his biography, clips from some of his films and a live performance from one of his greatest plays.

Shirley Romaine is an actress and television personality. She has appeared in plays on an off Broadway and is currently performing original programs incorporating theater, art, dance, music and poetry throughout the U.S. She was host/producer for Cablevision’s Artscene on Long Island for more than 20 years.
