Director/C-Writer Luis Javier Henaine Attending!
Ana (Cassandra Ciangherotti) dreams of being married at thirty, but no matter how hard she tries she can't land her ideal man. Annoyed that her long-single cousin is headed to the altar, she seeks professional help from an icily beautiful matchmaker, whose classes teach desperate women how to reel in a husband. Bachelorettes is the second feature by Luis Javier Henaine and co-writer Alejandra Olvera Avila, whose Happy Times competed for Best Emerging Filmmaker at MSPIFF in 2015. While Happy Times focused on a guy comically unable to break up with his girlfriend (also played by comedienne extraordinaire Ciangherotti), Bachelorettes is, on the surface at least, about a woman who is willing to do almost anything to get a man. But don't think that this is one of those overly familiar stories. Director Henaine, with his fine sense of the absurd, has some great twists up his sleeve. And the costumes and production design are a thorough delight.
