Description

A wry, tragicomic portrait of Belmonte, artist and father, ex-husband and public figure. Federico Veiroj's Belmonte expertly blends themes to tell the story of a complicated man desperate to connect with his daughter. Javier Belmonte (Gonzalo Delgado) is a middle-aged painter preparing for his next exhibition that will feature oversized paintings of tortured nude men. But, as he has grown tired of the superficial allure of the art world, he has noticed a distance growing between himself and his 10-year old daughter, Celeste. Concerned, Belmonte asks his ex-partner, Jeanne, if he can spend more time with their daughter, hoping to stave off what may be an inevitable collapse in his family life. Desperate not to lose his place in his daughter's life, Belmonte is gradually forced to confront the terrifying possibility that she might not need him as much as he needs her.
