In Alvaro Delgado Aparicio's debut feature, fourteen-year old Segundo (Junior Béjar Roca) makes retablos, handcrafted Peruvian story-boxes, alongside his father, Noé (Amiel Cayo). Set in rural Peru, Segundo has long been taking steps to one day take over the family business. Together, father and son craft beautiful scenes that speak to their shared talent and reverence for the work. Everything changes, however, when Segundo observes his father in a situation that sends his world into a spiral of conflicting emotions. When the two return home, Segundo’s mother and Noé’s wife, Anatolia (Magaly Solier), begins to notice a distance growing between father and son. With Noé's long-held secret in the backdrop, the family's future is up in the air. Unsure how to approach the situation, Segundo starts on his own journey of identity and acceptance.
