Description

Director Georges Gachot Attending!

Legendary Brazilian musician João Gilberto is credited for the creation of Bossa Nova, the popular style of Brazilian music that appeared during the 50s and 60s. But when João Gilberto unceremoniously disappeared into obscurity, society at large was left without answers. German writer Marc Fisher found himself on a dedicated search for Gilberto, documenting his quest in his developing book, Hobalala. Before the book could be published, Fisher mysteriously died, seemingly closing the door on the search for Gilberto. Now, filmmaker Georges Gachot (Rio Sonata) takes audiences on the same journey that Fisher began but never finished–to find out what really happened to the man who founded Bossa Nova. Along the way, visions of Gilberto's music, history and influence bring to life the long-lost voice of a music icon.
