ABOUT THE PROGRAM: Experience the immersive world of Absinthe, a groundbreaking fusion of film and live classical music curated by cellist Alexander Hersh. Transporting audiences on a journey through captivating storytelling, this innovative project delves into the depths of musical expression, all while shedding light on the enigmatic allure of the notorious drink, Absinthe. In the accompanying film, Hersh finds himself entranced by a cello-shaped bottle of Absinthe, known as The Green Fairy for its mesmerizing emerald hue and storied past. Explore the intriguing history of this once-banned elixir, infamous for its purported hallucinogenic properties, as the film weaves together narrative threads o mystery and fascination.

 

Through a seamless blend of film and live performance, Absinthe otters a fresh perspective on the classical repertoire, showcasing works by luminaries such as Debussy, Boulanger, Janacek, and Scriabin. Brought to life before your eves, as Absinthe pushes the boundaries of creativity and captivates audiences with its unique approach to classical music storytelling.
