Memories to Light is back for a second program at CAAMFest! Why are home movies so important, and what role will they play in telling the story of Asian America? CAAM Executive Director Stephen Gong will share selections from the first year of the project that explore these questions. Images range from the San Francisco landscapes of the 1930s and ’40s to Japanese American farmers and fishermen to the recollections of a Chinese American family living abroad in India in the 1960s, with live music accompaniment by Dan Lee (Scrabbel) and Goh Nakamura. Memories to Light is a project that collects and digitizes home movies — and the stories they tell — to share with a broad public. Visit the collections at caamedia.org/memoriestolight.
