Mississippi Records Presents:

A screening of rare and largely unseen footage from the Alan Lomax Archive, 1937–1991, in honor of the centennial of Lomax's birth, January 31, 2015.

Includes newly transferred and color-corrected footage from Lomax's early Library of Congress trips in Haiti (1937), East Kentucky (1937), Coahoma County, Mississippi (1942), and Morocco (1967), along with selected clips from his American Patchwork fieldwork through the Southeastern U.S. (1978–1983), featuring music from New Orleans, Cajun Louisiana, the Mississippi Delta and Hill Country, and Central and Southern Appalachia. Program concludes with footage from Lomax's last field-recording session, shot on Handicam on the Caribbean island of Carriacou in 1991. With an introduction and Q&A by Nathan Salsburg, curator of the Alan Lomax Archive.
