All Classical Portland and Edmund Stone of The Score™  present IMMORTAL BELOVED, the 1994 film about composer Ludwig van Beethoven as played by Gary Oldman. The story follows Beethoven's secretary and first biographer Anton Schindler on a quest to discover the true identity of Beethoven’s Unsterbliche Geliebte (Immortal Beloved), referred to in three letters found in the late composer's private papers. Retrospective footage of Beethoven’s tumultuous life, from his younger years until his death, juxtaposes Schindler’s journeys throughout the Austrian Empire, as he interviews women who might be potential candidates.

Film critic Roger Ebert was highly complementary of the movie, stating in his review, “IMMORTAL BELOVED has clearly been made by people who feel Beethoven directly in their hearts.” With a sumptuous soundtrack performed by the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Georg Solti, and piano solos by the inimitable Murray Perahia, this musical film resounds on the big screen.

All proceeds benefit All Classical Portland. Running time: 120 minutes
