Description

Join the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival’s NEXT WAVE series for an evening of conversation, films, and jokes with comedian and new-media filmmaker Jessie Kahnweiler, who will be screening clips of her web-isodes, performing a live stand-up routine, and premiering the pilot episode of her new TV series The Skinny, which is in production for Jill Soloway’s (Afternoon Delight, TRANSparent) Wifey.Tv. Jessie will also sit for a discussion with NEXT WAVE Director Joshua Moore and take questions from the audience. Moore will also preview some select clips from exciting programs on offer at the 35th San Francisco Jewish Film Festival.

Jessie Kahnweiler is a singularly funny voice in today’s filmmaking climate, whose progressive take on comedy-as-therapy has led to her recognition as a viral breakout hit whose provocative and hilarious titles such “Meet my Rapist” and “Dude, Where’s My Chutzpah” have been shared, and shared again on the web. With an acute understanding of 21st century growing pains, and a sharp tongue, Kahnweiler actively confronts stigmatizations of the millennial generation and twenty-somethings, and champions a feminist outlook that is both empowering and hilarious.

Before and after the program, hang around with NEXT WAVE and Jessie Kahnweiler in the New People Cinema lobby where you can enjoy complimentary beer and snacks. NEXT WAVE Passes for SFJFF35(July 23 - August 9) will also be for sale at the theater for the low price of $35.
