This Seabird Double Bill serves as a benefit for Audubon Society of Portland. The first film is the world premiere of Judy Irving’s “Cormorants in the Crosshairs,” highlighting double-crested cormorants. The second, PELICAN DREAMS, is an intimate portrait of an iconic seabird species. This documentary follows a wayward, starving California brown pelican from her “arrest” on the Golden Gate Bridge into care at a wildlife rehabilitation facility, and from there explores pelicans’ nesting grounds, Pacific coast migration and survival challenges. A special Q & A with Judy Irving (director of PELICAN DREAMS), Mark Bittner, (star of THE WILD PARROTS OF TELEGRAPH HILL), and Bob Sallinger (Portland Audubon Conservation Director) follows the movies. Proceeds benefit Audubon Society of Portland’s Cormorant Defense Fund.
