BORN FREE

Presented in person by world-renowned animal rights lawyer and President of the Nonhuman Rights Project, Steven Wise.

A portion of the box office proceeds donated to the Nonhuman Right Project, which works to secure legally recognized fundamental rights for nonhuman animals through litigation, advocacy and education. Post-film discussion and Q & A with Steven Wise.

Released in 1966, BORN FREE quickly became a wildly-popular film that forever altered the way humans look at their relationship to lions and wildlife's right to live free of captivity. Based on real life events, the film tells the story of the emotional bond between Joy and George Adamson, and Elsa, the orphaned lion cub they raise to adulthood before successfully releasing back into the Kenyan wilderness. Winner of Academy Award's Best Original Music Score and Best Song Awards, and the Director Guild of America's Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement, the film remains a beloved cinematic classic.
