Description

Presented by SF Women's Film Institute

Directed by Drew Denny

Starring: Drew Denny, Sarah Hagan

Bound for Austin to scatter her father’s ashes, Andy (writer-director-actress Drew Denny) hits the road with uptight actress friend Liv (Sarah Hagan) along for the ride. Revisiting old haunts and playacting along the way, the girls navigate the Mojave, scale mountains, climb Texas oil rigs, take Austin by storm and explore their identitieswith and without the help of the men they find all while honoring the complicated man who was Andy’s father. In her illuminating debut feature, Denny delves into personal history, using the rugged canyons and panoramic vistas of the American Southwest as a canvas for Andy’s evolving mental and emotional landscape. Culminating in a stirring tribute against the backdrop of White Sands National Monument, the film’s breathtaking cinematography, tender lead performances and hauntingly beautiful soundtrack contribute to a moody, sensual, darkly comic testament to family, friendship, reconciliation and resilience.

*After the Oct. 12 screening: special solo performance by musician/director/actor Drew Denny.
