Description

One day before the world’s most famous copyright trial begins, Fredrik packs a computer into a rusty Volvo in Sweden. Along with his co-founders, he faces $13 million in damage claims to Hollywood in a copyright infringement case.

Four years in the making, this is the saga of the world’s largest file sharing site: the Pirate Bay; known by most as “the galaxy’s most resilient BitTorrent website.” Launched 9 years ago, this website provides links for illegal file sharing and downloading of popular movies, music, games, and software –- for free. The Pirate Bay is responsible for half of the world’s BitTorrent traffic.

While exploring intellectual freedoms, this film details the triumphs and defeats of three men against the entertainment media industry. Director Simon Klose’s feature-debut takes no sides in this honest documentary that’s both, a riveting courtroom drama and powerful character study. (JMG)

Official Selection at the Berlin Film Festival, SXSW, and Hot Docs.
