Description

Q+A with Ugandan activists featured in the film following the screening.

Call Me Kuchu grants unprecedented access into the lives of David Kato and other Ugandan LGBT activists as they struggle against the rise of homophobia and anti-gay legislation following visits to Uganda by radical American Christian evangelists, including former Portlander Scott Lively.

Hailed as “horrific and uplifting, [an] excellent documentary” (NPR), this screening comes at a crucial time following the passage of the Anti-Homosexuality Act by the Ugandan government in February 2014, a law that further strips LGBT individuals of basic rights guaranteed under the Ugandan Constitution.
