A 35mm print of the seminal Rolling Stones documentary Gimme Shelter.
Gimme
Shelter (1970) Directed by Albert and David Maysles, chronicling the
last weeks of The Rolling Stones’ 1969 US tour which culminated in the
disastrous Altamont Free Concert. In December of 1969, four months after
Woodstock, the Stones gave a free concert in Northern California, at
Altamont Speedway. 300,000 people came, and the organizers put Hell’s
Angels in charge of security around the stage. As the concert raged on,
the intensity of the drugged out audience grew, and the Hell’s Angels
(armed with pool cues and knifes), turned to brutality against the
crowd.
