Description

The Portland Geek Council is proud to present the 1988 fantasy epic, Willow! Conceived of and produced by George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, this film represents what amounts one of the original templates for American films in the fantasy genre. Though frequently overlooked, the film exhibits amazing special effects from Industrial Light and Magic and great performances from Warwick Davis, Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley, and Jean Marsh. Willow is a classic story of a ragtag group of would-be heroes trying to save the life of a baby prophesied to be the chosen one that will bring down an evil witch queen. It is as much a comedy as an epic adventure, and has many of the same humor elements of Lucas’ original Star Wars trilogy. The PGC, in conjunction with Hollywood Theater, is ecstatic to show this unsung classic on the big screen.

About the Portland Geek Council:

The PGC is a non-profit chamber of commerce formed in late 2010 by a group of like-minded geeks to promote geek culture in the Greater Portland Metro Area. We strive to unite and cultivate the Portland geeky community–those people who are enthusiastic and, perhaps, a little obsessive in the pursuit of their passions. We provide opportunities and resources to facilitate networking, community building, and targeted marketing, especially for our member organizations, but also for Portland’s geek community at large.
