The adventures of a food critic never looked as good or as interesting as they do in Laura Gabbert’s engaging documentary. In this case, the subject is eclectic food critic Jonathan Gold who has transformed the Los Angeles food scene by embracing hole-in-the-wall eateries and out-of-the-way ethnic restaurants right alongside the city’s finest haute cuisine. Gold, the only food critic to ever win a Pulitzer Prize, reveals the essence of his writing through his passion for art, music, and, of course, all of the food his city has to offer.
